Head of Sub-Section for EA Speciality Insurance

We are seeking a Head of Sub-Section EA Speciality Insurance based in London, reporting to the Head of Data Delivery. The role requires relocation to the specified location and employment under the company's contractual terms.

This position is part of the Enterprise Architecture Tower within Group Technology, responsible for defining and executing the EA strategy to support business agility and growth across Munich Re Group. The Tower develops multiyear roadmaps, oversees policy compliance, monitors architecture delivery, and optimizes application portfolios to reduce costs and foster innovation. It also provides SDLC tools and processes to enhance global developer productivity in a secure, compliant, and standardized environment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead a talented and motivated team to develop strategies for Global Specialty Insurance (GSI).
  2. Assess current application portfolio, risks, and technical viability; identify remediation options and manage the Transformation Roadmap.
  3. Plan and align Cluster Plans based on Technology Fitness and Business Value Analysis.
  4. Govern the transformation of Application Portfolio Management and Technology Stacks globally.
  5. Assess and cluster the application portfolio, define transformation roadmaps, set up migration projects, and provide data/TCO for ROI calculations and business cases.
  6. Define Application Portfolio Roadmaps based on Strategy and Reference Architectures.
  7. Reduce technical complexity, application footprint, and drive standardization and innovation.
  8. Identify vendors, methodologies, and platforms for reliable and highly available applications.
  9. Align strategies and priorities with business peers and communicate effectively within the team.
  10. Build and support an inclusive team of Enterprise Architects, fostering collaboration and balancing workloads.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Information Systems; advanced or graduate degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of architecture experience in large information systems, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong technical proficiency across relevant capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills tailored for diverse audiences, including C-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and guide the team effectively.
  • At least 3 years of professional application development experience in relevant areas.
