Job Title: Head of Structured Cabling – Data Centre Projects

Overview:

One of our clients are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Head of Structured Cabling to lead the design, deployment, and quality assurance of structured cabling systems across high-performance data centre projects. This role is pivotal to ensuring the integrity, reliability, and scalability of the digital infrastructure supporting mission-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Oversight & Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of structured cabling systems on hyperscale and enterprise-level data centre projects.
  • Define structured cabling strategy, architecture, and standards in line with industry best practices (TIA/EIA, BICSI).
  • Manage the structured cabling scope, budget, schedule, and quality across multiple concurrent projects.

Design & Technical Leadership

  • Oversee the development of cabling design packages, including backbone, horizontal, and containment layouts.
  • Review and approve design documentation including floor plans, rack elevations, single-line diagrams, and bill of materials.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, technical specifications, and local/national standards.

Team & Contractor Management

  • Lead and coordinate internal engineering teams, design consultants, and installation contractors.
  • Evaluate and select structured cabling vendors and technologies based on performance, scalability, and lifecycle cost.
  • Manage on-site QA/QC processes including cable testing, labelling, and certification procedures.

Project Interface & Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for structured cabling with clients, design teams, and general contractors.
  • Interface with mechanical, electrical, security, and IT system teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Support commissioning, handover, and operations teams with documentation and system walkthroughs.
  • Monitor emerging technologies (e.g., high-density fiber, MPO/MTP systems, intelligent cabling) and implement relevant innovations.
  • Develop and maintain structured cabling design and installation standards for internal and external teams.
  • Lead lessons learned and post-project reviews to drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in structured cabling design and delivery, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of delivering structured cabling systems in large-scale data centres or mission-critical environments.
  • Deep knowledge of standards such as ANSI/TIA-568, TIA-942, ISO/IEC 11801, and BICSI best practices.
  • Strong experience with fiber optic and copper cabling systems, cable management, pathways, and containment systems.
  • Skilled in interpreting CAD drawings, cable schedules, and rack layouts.
