We're looking for a dynamic Head of Software Development to lead our development team and drive productivity as we expand our operations internationally.

We are one of the fastest-growing E-commerce startups in the world, reaching profitability in Q4 last year and over a million in annual turnover. We're on a mission to conquer the E-commerce market with our sites set on taking sizeable market share from the biggest names in the industry. Having already hit profitability, with strong cash reserves and further VC backing, now is the time to expand further. We plan to operate in over countries in the next few years, with technology at the core of our strategy. Currently, we have 8 agile sprint teams in our development department and are in the process of adding 5 or 6 more as part of our expansion. We need a process-driven, hands-off Head of Software Development to enhance productivity and ensure key objectives and deadlines are met.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality software on time
2. Oversee the entire software development life cycle, from planning and architecture to deployment and maintenance
3. Collaborate closely with product, operations, and business teams to align technical efforts with business goals
4. Drive the adoption of best practices in coding, testing, and architecture, focusing on scalability and performance
5. Remove blockers to ensure high productivity on engineering challenges
6. Measure and track team productivity and results against key objectives
7. Manage approximately 14 technical leads, each with a sprint team working on different products

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years in software development, including at least 3+ years in leadership or management
• Experience managing large engineering teams of over 50 people
• Experience in high-paced, growth-oriented businesses
• Ability to balance coding standards with deadlines
• Experience launching or expanding products in new markets within software/E-commerce
• Ability to manage key stakeholders, including external partners and investors
• A proactive, results-oriented mentality and comfort working under tight deadlines
• Passion and drive to grow a business beyond a 9-5 role

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with PHP/Laravel stack
• Familiarity with launching services in new markets/countries
• Knowledge of E-commerce marketplaces and industry trends
