A leading NHS Trust is seeking a Risk Team Leader to manage and develop risk systems and processes. The role involves leading a new team, ensuring compliance with risk management standards, and enhancing organizational improvements through effective risk reporting and training. This position offers an opportunity to impact patient safety and governance within a top NHS organization serving over 600,000 residents.
The post holder is responsible for recruiting to and leading the Trust's new Risk Team. They will lead and manage their team in developing key risk systems and processes. They will support directorates and divisions in delivering effective risk management and reporting via the Trust's safety system. They will coordinate the Trust's risk processes, ensuring escalation to appropriate committees and oversight levels, and drive risk-based improvements aligned with the organisation's six strategic priorities.
They will assist in creating a new Pan-Trust Risk Oversight Committee and ensure delivery of portfolio-specific risk reports to key governance, operational, and finance meetings. The post will ensure effective risk data flow from ward to board, facilitating accessible risk information that promotes organisational improvement.
The role includes developing and delivering a new risk management training standard for key staff groups, and creating a strategic risk oversight framework and policy to provide clear guidance to staff.
The post holder will collaborate with the Director of Quality Governance, senior management, and directorate teams to ensure compliance with statutory risk management standards. They will act as a risk expert in their sphere of work and lead the Trust's Risk Improvement programme following recent external reviews.
They will lead policy development related to risk management, ensuring compliance with CQC standards, NHSR standards, and other external bodies. They will develop Trust-wide briefings linked to risk activity and ensure effective, timely risk management practices. The role involves enhancing systems for trust-wide learning and oversight, maintaining agility in response to feedback, and managing and recruiting for the new Risk Management team.
The post requires regular visibility in clinical areas to foster staff interaction and gather soft data for effective risk management. The Trust is among the top NHS Trusts nationwide, serving over 600,000 residents with a staff of over 8,000, offering specialized services including cancer care.
