Job summary
The post holder is responsible for recruiting to and leading the Trusts new Risk Team. They will lead and manage their team in the development of key risk systems and processes. They will support directorates and divisions to deliver effective risk management and reporting processes via the Trusts assigned safety system. They will co-ordinate the Trusts risk processes ensuring these are escalated to the appropriate committees and levels of internal / external oversight. Driving risk-based improvements across the organisations six strategic priorities.
They will assist in the creation of a new Pan-Trust Risk Oversight Committee and ensure that portfolio specific risk reports are delivered to other key quality governance / operational and finance meetings across the Trust. The post will ensure that risk data flows effectively from ward to board to allow risk information and risk management effectiveness to be accessible in a way that drives improvement across the organisation.
The role will also be responsible for developing and delivering a new risk management training standard to key staff groups across the organisation.
The post will also be responsible for developing a strategic risk oversight framework and policy that gives clear guidance to staff groups.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work closely with the Director of Quality Governance, the senior management and directorate teams to ensure that Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust meets the statutory requirements and standards for effective Risk Management .
Act as a risk expert within your sphere of work.
The post holder will be responsible for strategically leading the Trusts Risk Improvement programme *following a recent external review of governance / risk management processes
Lead on the development of policies and procedures and associated documentation related to risk management to ensure they comply with Care Quality Commission standards, NHSR risk management standards and any other external monitoring bodies. Ensure policies are implemented, monitored and reviewed effectively.
Develop Trust-wide briefings linked to risk activity and ensure that the Trust is implementing effective change in response to it's risk profile.
Ensure that all risks are managed in a timely manner
Enhance systems for trust-wide learning and oversight are in place for all aspects of risk management - maintain an agile response - ensuring that risk management processes flex in response to feedback (internal and external)
Manage and recruit to a new Trust risk management team
Be regularly visible / present in clinical areas, encouraging interaction with all groups of staff and gathering 'soft' data to enable effective risk management systems are in place that are accessible for all staff groups
