Aareon invites a seasoned Head of Quality Engineering to lead QA across the UK portfolio. The role guides a growing team, shaping quality strategy, and driving AI-powered testing within an evolving software lifecycle.

You will partner with engineering, product, and operations to ensure faster releases with higher confidence while expanding automation and AI-assisted practices across all products.

We are looking forward to meeting YOU!**The opportunity**This newly created, UK wide role will bring quality engineering together across Aareon’s portfolio for the first time. You’ll lead a team of QA professionals, create a consistent operating model and set a clear quality strategy across products that housing providers rely on every day. Software development is entering a period of rapid change. AI-assisted development is already increasing engineering productivity and accelerating software delivery. As that pace continues to increase, traditional approaches to quality assurance, testing and release confidence will come under pressure. The challenge is no longer simply how to test software, but how quality engineering evolves to remain effective in an AI-powered software development lifecycle You’ll have a direct line to the VP Engineering, the mandate to shape how QA is organised and tooled, and the support of an experienced team. Your work will help teams release faster with confidence while improving outcomes for the organisations and residents who use our software. **What you'll be doing*** Set and evolve one quality strategy across Aareon’s UK product portfolio, with clear standards, quality gates and KPIs.* Define how quality engineering works in an AI-powered software development lifecycle, where software production is accelerating rapidly. Determine where human judgement adds most value and where automation and AI should carry the load.* Make clear, testable intent the foundation of delivery, embedding quality earlier in the development lifecycle and using AI-assisted test generation, automation and intelligent testing to provide rapid feedback as software is produced.* Line manage, coach and develop the QA team, supporting progression from manual testing towards quality engineering and AI assisted automation.* Make quality visible through meaningful measures such as release confidence, escaped defects, cycle time, test coverage and automation reach.* Partner with engineering, product and operations leaders, and lead the response and organisational learning when major quality issues arise. **What we're looking for**You’ll be a senior quality leader who can shape strategy, build an effective operating model and bring people with you through change. * Senior QA or quality engineering leadership across multiple products or teams in a software or SaaS business, with experience leading teams at scale and the autonomy to shape organisational structure and ways of working.* A track record of building or reshaping a QA function and moving teams from manual testing towards automation.* Strong knowledge of modern test strategy, automation frameworks and quality gates for rapid software delivery.* Hands on use of AI in your work, with an informed view of how quality assurance changes as AI accelerates development.* The influence to work effectively with engineering, product and operations leaders, alongside pragmatic, outcomes focused judgement and a strong approach to leading and developing a team. **Great to have, but not essential*** Leading QA where AI coding assistants or agents, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Cursor, are used in everyday delivery.* Experience with AI assisted testing tools, testing AI enabled features or managing non deterministic behaviour.* Experience in .NET or PHP environments, modernising established platforms, or working with housing, property or public sector facing software. **You don't need to tick every box.
