Job description

Ready to lead, make your mark, and take the next step towards Partnership?

Are you an experienced Property Solicitor who is ready to take on greater responsibility, lead a team and play a key role in shaping the future of a well-established legal practice? This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected North East law firm as Head of Property, taking responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of the property department, supporting an established team and helping drive the department's continued success.

With a heritage spanning more than 300 years and recognition from leading legal directories, this is a firm with a strong reputation, an established client base and a genuine commitment to delivering a personal, professional service. This is much more than a traditional residential conveyancing position. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a department, influence its direction and develop your management experience within an established and respected firm.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and managing the property department, providing guidance, supervision and support to the existing team.
  • Managing your own residential property caseload, maintaining excellent standards of client care and technical work.
  • Overseeing a varied range of residential transactions, including sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
  • Supporting the team's development, encouraging a collaborative working environment and ensuring matters progress efficiently.
  • Taking responsibility for departmental performance, working towards a billing target of three times your salary.
  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships, develop new business and contribute to the department's ongoing growth.
  • Working closely with the wider leadership team to help shape the future direction of the property department.

The salary on offer is £50,000–£70,000, depending on experience, with an additional bonus of 15% of billings achieved above your individual billing target. This provides an opportunity to benefit directly from your contribution to the department's success.

You may be happy in your current position, but if you have been looking for an opportunity to take on greater responsibility, build your leadership experience and work towards Partnership, this could be the move that takes your career forward. This is an opportunity to combine a strong residential property practice with meaningful management responsibility, commercial influence and a clear longer-term career ambition.
