Head of Project Engineering

The role can be done from any location in Europe or the US that is close to a GSK location

Job purpose:

This senior thought leadership role is instrumental in influencing GSK's strategic direction regarding project engineering on large capital projects. The role involves defining strategic directions aligned with business goals, including shaping and delivering GSK's digitisation and sustainability ambitions. The role holder will apply deep technical knowledge across the engineering domain and be recognized as an expert within and outside the organization. Reporting to the VP of Global Capital Projects, the Head of Project Engineering will be a core member of the GCP Leadership Team.

• The Head of Project Engineering will engage at a senior level to provide technical guidance and mentor employees across diverse geographies.
• Lead a team of other senior engineering leaders and experts, many of whom are global specialists.
• Ensure adherence to Engineering Standards and GSK Project Management Framework.
• Accountable for capability development and deployment of engineering resources for capital projects over £10m.
• Develop and support multiple engineering teams across geographies to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
• Collaborate with technical authorities to ensure standards are implemented and compliance monitored.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure the project engineering function is adequately staffed and capable to support GSK's capital plan.
• Lead and direct multiple project engineering teams and managers.
• Establish external partnerships to augment engineering capabilities.
• Research and implement innovative project delivery methods, including digital solutions.
• Support project delivery strategies with a focus on engineering excellence.
• Develop and execute annual business and improvement plans.
• Represent project engineering in strategic and governance meetings.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security, and ethical standards.
• Engage with external bodies and ensure regulatory alignment, including cGMP considerations.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Engineering; advanced degrees preferred.
• Over 15 years of experience in designing and delivering high-tech life science projects.
• Deep understanding of the project lifecycle from design to operation.
• Experience in managing complex construction projects and leading diverse engineering teams globally.
