Job summary

SoCode Limited near Cambridge is seeking a Head of Project Management to lead a team of experienced PMs and run large, complex programmes across RF and embedded electronics, software, and product development.

Reporting to engineering leadership, the role balances fee-earning project delivery with team leadership, governance and delivery-process improvement; three on-site days per week with travel to UK and overseas clients.

Qualifications

• Must have depth in delivering complex design and development projects across RF and embedded electronics.
• Consultancy background with commercial awareness and working to client budgets.
• Experience managing project managers, not just projects.
• High emotional intelligence and genuine interest in developing people around you.
• Presence and credibility with clients at every level, from engineer to executive.
• Continuous improvement mindset, tackling issues rather than tolerating them.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project management team day to day, including hiring, developing and getting the best from experienced PMs.
• Run large or complex projects personally, jointly with a technical lead, owning margins, milestones, changes and subcontractors.
• Own governance of projects from delivery reviews to reporting standards and tool usage.
• Keep delivery practices current, simplify where needed and strengthen controls where thin.
• Collaborate with other departments to balance resourcing across consultancy and product work while enabling growth.
• Support the sales team on scoping, estimating and proposal work to ensure technically credible and commercially viable bids.
