Job summary

Avencia Talent Solutions is working with a leading London Market business to appoint a Head of Pricing – Specialty, overseeing a diverse portfolio including Marine, Aviation, Contingency and Space. The role blends leadership with close involvement in underwriting and commercial decision-making.

You will lead the pricing team, work with underwriters and senior stakeholders, and develop tools to drive profitability.

Qualifications

• Proven people management experience in a pricing role.
• Specialty pricing experience with Marine/Aviation preferred.
• Commercially minded, hands-on, able to translate analysis into underwriting recommendations.
• Ability to operate at pace in a dynamic environment and take ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Specialty pricing function.
• Collaborate with underwriters on deals and commercial drivers.
• Own portfolio analysis and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Price and review large, complex deals and provide underwriting recommendations.

I’m working with a leading London Market business on the appointment of a Head of Pricing – Specialty, supporting a diverse portfolio across Marine, Aviation, Contingency and Space.

About the Role

This is a portfolio-focused role with significant ownership and exposure across the portfolio, combining leadership with the opportunity to remain genuinely close to underwriting, deals and commercial decision.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Specialty pricing function
• Work closely with underwriters, getting into the detail of individual deals and their commercial drivers
• Take ownership of portfolio analysis and optimisation, identifying opportunities to improve performance and profitability
• Price and review large and complex deals, translating analysis into tangible underwriting recommendations
• Develop and enhance pricing tools and models across existing and new product lines
• Work closely with senior stakeholders across underwriting, reinsurance, exposure management and risk
• Gain significant exposure across a strategically important Specialty portfolio

Required Skills

• A strong people manager who enjoys developing others
• Specialty experience, ideally with exposure to Marine and/or Aviation
• Someone commercially minded and hands-on who enjoys getting into the detail rather than operating purely at a high level
• Strong technical capability combined with the ability to turn analysis into clear, actionable commercial recommendations
• Comfortable operating at pace and making decisions in a dynamic environment
• An ambitious individual looking for the opportunity to step up, take greater ownership and progress their career
• Preferred specialty experience, ideally with exposure to Marine and/or Aviation
