Job Description:

REF: HC53718

Job Title: Head of Portfolio Operations - Asset Management

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Central London

A specialist European infrastructure investment manager is seeking a Head of Portfolio Operations to take responsibility for the operations and performance of a focused hydropower portfolio. This is a senior opportunity for a detail-oriented and commercially-minded individual to help manage a lean but high-quality set of renewable energy assets.

Description

While the initial focus will be to build a robust, output-focused function that accurately tracks performance, ensures compliance, and delivers timely reporting, there will be scope in time to contribute strategically to making assumptions on performance in the context of the market.

The team is lean and offers the opportunity for an asset management/portfolio operations professional to gain full cycle investment experience as well as exposure to decision-making senior partners.

Skills

  • Lead the asset management and fund operations for operational hydropower projects.
  • Maintain financial oversight, ensure regulatory and corporate compliance, and manage relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Deliver high-quality reporting to investors, lenders, and board members.
  • Support continuous process improvements and risk management practices across a well-established portfolio.
  • Oversee the financial and operational performance of all assets, including analysis of cashflows, invoice processing, and monitoring of risk metrics.
  • Prepare and update quarterly asset valuations and board reporting materials.
  • Coordinate with lenders on debt servicing and covenant compliance.
  • Manage distributions to investors and ensure timely delivery of audited financial statements and filings across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Maintain close working relationships with auditors, advisers, utilities, and project counterparties.
  • Lead asset management initiatives to enhance portfolio value and efficiency.
  • Supervise one direct report and contribute to the development of long-term asset management structures.
  • Assisting the investment team on any transaction related activity, including upcoming refinancing project and potential exits.

Background

  • 5+ years of experience in asset management or fund operations, ideally within infrastructure or renewable energy, directly managing assets.
  • Strong working knowledge of corporate financials and accounting principles; formal accounting qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial modelling is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior internal and external partners.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in German or Nordic languages would be a bonus.
