Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Subject Leader for Physics at a prominent secondary academy in Reading. This full-time role starts in January and focuses on leading KS4 and KS5 Physics, mentoring science staff, and coordinating university STEM entry programs.

You will oversee practical assessments, safety, and exam outcomes while delivering rigorous physics teaching across key stages 4 and 5. A strong track record in GCSE/A-Level physics is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or UK credentials with an honours degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven track record of delivering strong GCSE and A-Level Physics outcomes.
• Knowledge of CLEAPSS safety standards for physics equipment and practical assessment requirements.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsabilités

• Lead curriculum design, assessment tracking, and delivery of KS4 and KS5 Physics.
• Teach Physics across KS4 and KS5 with rigorous, engaging lessons.
• Enforce laboratory safety protocols and maintain physics apparatus.
• Monitor pupil progress, lead revision workshops, and coordinate mock exams.
• Prepare Sixth Form candidates for university engineering and physics entrance exams (PAT / ENGAA / Oxbridge).
• Mentor non-specialist science teachers delivering KS3 and KS4 physics topics.
