Job summary

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Head of Performance (Band 8b) to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Planning and Performance function. The role will strengthen performance management, ensure robust planning, monitoring and improvement across operational services, and support achievement of national standards and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in the NHS and performance improvement at corporate and operational levels.
• Budget management experience including cost efficiency actions.
• Experience in report writing and presenting to stakeholders.
• Prince 2 or other project management qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong analytical and data interpretation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Operational Planning and Performance teams, ensuring effective delivery of objectives, staff development and responsible management of resources.
• Coordinate the monitoring and review of operational performance, identifying risks, supporting escalation and ensuring robust improvement and recovery plans are in place.
• Lead and coordinate service-level planning processes aligned with Trust, ICB and national priorities, supporting the delivery of operational objectives and performance standards.
• Provide expert interpretation of complex performance information, translating data into meaningful insight to support decision-making, improvement and executive assurance.
• Build effective relationships with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues, supporting a consistent and collaborative approach to performance management across the Trust.
• Promote effective performance management practices, support service improvement initiatives and lead designated projects that contribute to organisational priorities.
