Head of Partnerships (12 month Fixed Term)

The Role

Hiscox has built a successful direct-to-consumer business in the UK, focusing on selling commercial insurance to Small and Medium Sized businesses, as well as distributing high-value home insurance to high-net worth customers. This success has been achieved through direct channels and key partnerships, contributing significant profit annually to the UK P&L.

With planned investment, Hiscox aims to accelerate growth. We are seeking an interim Head of Partnerships to lead the development of strategic partnerships and expanded distribution.

You will identify and secure new opportunities to grow our business and oversee the optimization of existing partners, with a focus on embedded insurance partnerships, including integration into third-party platforms. Your success will be measured by the number of new partnerships secured and revenue onboarded.

Role

This key role will focus on three main areas:

  1. Strategic Partner Expansion: Lead development, identify new opportunities, secure partnership deals, and set sales and revenue targets.
  2. Partnership Optimization: Lead the Partnerships team to maximize revenue from existing partnerships.
  3. Regulation & Governance: Ensure compliance with FCA guidance and Hiscox processes.

Key Deliverables

Strategic Partnership Development and Expansion:

  • Develop and implement a partnership strategy aligned with Hiscox’s growth goals.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new partnerships to expand customer reach and revenue.
  • Respond proactively to RFPs with compelling proposals.
  • Negotiate contracts ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee onboarding and integration of new partners.
  • Represent Hiscox at external events to build relationships.
  • Lead compliance efforts related to partnerships.

Performance Optimization:

  • Manage commercial performance and reporting of partnerships.
  • Oversee budgets and KPIs, analyze trends, and propose activities.
  • Build strong relationships with partners.
  • Maintain governance frameworks and regulatory reporting.

Team & Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead a team of 2 Partnership Account Managers.
  • Develop a network across Hiscox UK and key functions.
  • Coordinate partnership projects within the company’s framework.

Experience:

  • Proactive, professional, and driven by continuous improvement.
  • Strong sales experience in new business development and partnerships.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to craft partnership proposals.
  • Understanding of insurance partnerships, embedded insurance, and API solutions.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
