Job summary

Talbot Underwriting Ltd in London seeks a Head of Operations to shape and deliver the strategy across underwriting, claims and support services. You will lead an Operations team, manage outsourcing providers and partner with CFO and other leaders to meet targets.

Drawing on our deep industry expertise, Talbot develops tailored insurance solutions that address clients' evolving and often unique needs. **How you will create an impact** Responsibilities: * Create and drive Operations’ strategy supporting Talbot’s strategy. Deliver agreed business targets, operational plans and change priorities in partnership with internal and external parties.* Partner with business leaders to understand customer and operational needs and translate these into service, process and control requirements.* Represent Talbot at various LMA forums.* Design and embed the most effective operating model, utilising third parties where appropriate, ensuring cost efficiency and service standards are met.* Own Outsource Service Provider (OSP) relationships: onboard new providers, manage and monitor performance, and exit services when required; ensure delivery aligns with operating standards, policies and controls.* Support CFO in oversight of procurement and vendor management, and work with Global Sourcing & Procurement Services to ensure processes work effectively. **Governance and Controls*** Ensure all regulatory, legislative and operational standards and codes of practice are met, including Lloyd’s expectations and standards where applicable, with effective checks, balances, monitoring and controls.* Ensure the operating model supports Lloyd’s oversight and reporting needs, including timely provision of operational MI and evidence for internal governance, audit activity and Lloyd’s/prudential reviews.* Own and be accountable for operational risks, standards and policy implementation, ensuring mitigations and controls are in place.* Continuously monitor, review and identify areas for improvement and processes to establish effective of controls.* Support internal and external audit where necessary. **Management and Leadership*** Manage capacity, cost and resources to deliver service to budget in support of country and regional plans.* Build, lead and develop an Operations team to continuously improve performance while maintaining agreed standards and controls.* Identify training and coaching needs for direct reports, driving capability development and providing performance feedback in line with HR processes.* Motivate, coach and develop future leaders through development plans, talent management and succession planning.**What you’ll need to succeed** * Detailed knowledge of operational excellence tools and techniques* Extensive knowledge of underwriting processes such that the relationship between Operations, Underwriting, Claims and other functions is seamless.* Extensive experience in the insurance industry, specifically Lloyd’s/ London Market (re)insurance, with an excellent knowledge of the Lloyd’s Market, its regulatory requirements.* In-depth experience in managing a Team* Experience of devising, organizing and implementing large scale, complex projects, incorporating multiple work streams and multiple stakeholders* Experience of strategic planning and working with the Executives to drive the Operations agenda across the business* Ability to interpret market and macros trends, understand how this impacts on the business operations and identify strategies that will support the business competitiveness.* Analytical skills and understanding to deliver focused growth and profitable business outcomes Leadership* Ability to negotiate with major stakeholders, balancing execution requirements and business needs* Ability to negotiate with major stakeholders, balancing execution requirements and business needs* Ability to self-manage but awareness of when its necessary to involve senior managers on key issues* Relationship building at all levels* Broad and deep experience and sound leadership skills* Excellent written and oral communication skills with all levels of staff Ready to take your career to the next level?
