Job summary

Bell Cornwall Recruitment is seeking an Operations Manager in Birmingham to oversee multiple teams and drive process improvements within an established IP firm. The role reports to senior stakeholders and involves resource planning and staff development.

You will lead Patent Paralegal and Business Support teams totaling around 40 staff, ensuring optimal workload management and operational efficiency while aligning with business objectives. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a senior operational leadership or management role.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams within a professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of workforce planning, performance management and employee relations.
• Experience using management information to improve workflows and resource utilisation.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of IP administration, Inprotech and iManage would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop Patent Paralegal, Trade Mark Paralegal and Business Support teams, comprising approx. 40 people.
• Oversee workforce planning, resource allocation and team performance.
• Monitor workloads, productivity and capacity to support operational decisions.
• Manage performance reviews, employee relations and staff development.
• Identify process improvements and drive operational efficiency.
• Work closely with Partners and senior stakeholders to support business objectives.
