Job summary

HSJjobs is seeking an experienced Head of Contracts to join the Finance team of a Trust in England. You will lead the contracting function to maximise income, manage risk and ensure compliance with NHS Standard Contract requirements.

In collaboration with senior finance, clinical and system leaders, you will drive complex negotiations with commissioners, oversee contract performance, and implement national payment mechanisms while promoting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience NHS contracting, commissioning or healthcare finance.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead contracting strategy aligned to organisational priorities and financial objectives.
• Lead complex contract negotiations with commissioners and system partners.
• Oversee governance of NHS contracts.
• Ensure robust income forecasting, reconciliation and income recovery.
• Provide expert advice on contractual, commercial and financial risks and opportunities.
• Lead contract performance reporting and assurance processes.
• Support implementation of national payment mechanisms and contracting reforms.
• Develop strong collaborative relationships across the Trust, BSW Group and IC partners.
• Lead, motivate and develop the Contracts Team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
