Job summary
This senior post ensures that Medical Physics provides a high quality and innovative medical physics and clinical engineering service to the Royal United Hospitals NHS foundation Trust.
The Head of Medical Physics is responsible for leading, and managing the complete Medical Physics service. The post holder ensures that appropriate and high quality services are delivered to patients and staff across the Trust. The post holder will manage the complete Medical Physics budget and to ensure the department provides the agreed savings each year. The post holder is responsible for the strategic and clinical service development, clinical and organisational governance, and research and development.
The post holder will additionally take on responsibility for areas of service or strategy delivery within the division or across the Trust as appropriate to their skills, interest and experience. The post holder will also be involved in national professional activities.
The post holder will ensure that sound professional advice is given to management, medical and nursing staff on all aspects of physics and engineering in medicine. To provide scientific leadership; to act as a Trust expert in one or more scientific areas and to act as the clinical lead for the department.
