Job summary

Costain Group is seeking a Head of Mechanical & Electrical to lead the Mechanical, Piping, Electrical and C&I disciplines within its Engineering Services team. The role oversees design delivery across UK energy, water, nuclear, defence and transport projects, with hybrid working from Manchester or London base locations.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams on complex infrastructure projects.
• Ability to deliver complex engineering scopes to budget and programme.
• Proven capability in change management and value engineering.
• Experience managing workload, resource demand, and skillsets within engineering teams.
• Extensive engineering design experience across civil, mechanical, electrical, piping, and instrument disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary Engineering Services contact for Mechanical, Piping, Electrical and C&I disciplines.
• Communicate design progress, risks and outcomes with stakeholders to align expectations.
• Forecast future team resource needs and recruit to meet demand.
• Lead delivery of mechanical, piping, electrical, controls & instrumentation engineering services across contracts; manage budgets and programme.
• Ensure technically compliant, quality-controlled designs with regulatory assurance across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with sector teams to develop value propositions and bid pipelines.
• Capture and communicate risks and opportunities; manage design changes and promote a culture of ownership.
