  • Leads by example to deliver high quality lessons which inspires and engages students enabling them to learn and become confident mathematicians.
  • Strategically evaluate and further develop the maths curriculum to ensure all students are challenged and supported so they build confidence and achieve well.
  • Demonstrates passion, skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students.
  • Works collaboratively with staff to integrate maths and numeracy into all subject areas effectively.
  • Provides training and support for teachers to enhance maths teaching across the curriculum.
  • Promotes a positive culture of maths, engaging both students and staff through innovative initiatives and events.
  • Develops and implements targeted interventions to support underachieving students and to measure and evaluate impact.
  • Liaises with parents, governors, and external organisations to enhance maths provision.
Responsibilities
  • The Head of Maths leads the Mathematics department in curriculum development, teaching standards and student achievement.
  • Inspire a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration within the department and across the school.
  • Support continued success of the maths subject, building on strong curriculum foundations and leading a dedicated team to improve outcomes.
  • Lead the delivery of a broad curriculum across key areas: number, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry and measures, probability and statistics.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Maths to join the Mathematics department at Weston Secondary School, part of Hamwic Education Trust (HET). This is a dedicated educator role to lead teaching and learning standards, curriculum development and student achievement, inspiring a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration.

The Maths department delivers a broad curriculum covering number, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry and measures, probability and statistics. Weston Secondary School aims to recruit a passionate Head of Maths to support continued success and rapidly improve student outcomes.

HET is a large Trust with 37 academies across the South Coast, including 34 primary academies, 2 secondary and 1 hospital school.
