Job summary

Teaching Personnel, in partnership with a high-achieving Blackburn secondary school, seeks an outstanding Head of Mathematics to start January 2027.

You will lead the Mathematics department across Key Stages 3 and 4, drive teaching excellence, monitor curriculum, and develop staff. This is a leadership role with a focus on improving outcomes and sustaining a culture of high expectations.

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has leadership experience within a secondary school context.
• Demonstrates a track record of delivering strong Mathematics outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Mathematics department across KS3 and KS4.
• Drive high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
• Monitor and evaluate curriculum delivery and assessment practices.
• Coach and develop teaching staff within the department.
• Analyse student progress data and implement effective interventions.
• Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives and leadership priorities.
