Job summary

The Joseph Whitaker School is seeking a well-qualified leader to head the Mathematics faculty. Based in Rainworth near Mansfield, the post offers a 1.0 FTE permanent appointment and a competitive salary scale (M1 - UPS3) with a TLR 1B of £12,954.

The successful candidate will drive teaching excellence across Key stages 3, 4 and 5, develop mathematics teaching expertise in others, and lead a strong team within a supportive Trust. Closing date 5 October 2026, interviews later that week.

Required For January 2027 The Joseph Whitaker School is a popular 11-18 school, in Rainworth, a village just outside of Mansfield. It serves the three local villages of Blidworth, Rainworth and Ravenshead. With 1400 students, we are an 8 form entry school and have a healthy uptake of A level mathematics, we also have an A level Further mathematics course.

Due to the current post holder having stepped down to a phased retirement we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced leader to lead our mathematics faculty. This position would be ideal for someone looking for the next step in Middle Leadership, or perhaps looking to broaden their experience. The successful candidate will be passionate about Mathematics at Key stages 3, 4 and 5 and have the ability and drive to develop mathematics’ teaching expertise in others. They will be an excellent leader of people and understand how to secure the very best outcomes for all of our students.
