The department of the Vice President External Engagement coordinates UCL’s engagement with a range of audiences, raising the university’s profile and influence, and managing its reputation. It promotes the public value of UCL’s research and partnerships to the future of Britain and globally. It is a service-driven function made up of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.

About The Role

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and working in partnership with senior colleagues within the Vice President External Engagement (VPEE) portfolio team, Faculties and the Vice President Operations, Student Recruitment and Admission team, the interim Head of Marketing will develop plans under the marketing framework with targeted country specific plans for paid and brand campaigns, content and collateral, conversion, channel development and clearing, bringing a refreshed brand narrative to life for prospective students and their influencers.

They will ensure process improvements across all marketing activity through a performance marketing approach; developing UCL’s CRM system; an enhanced customer focused subject cluster approach and leading on the delivery of impactful social media marketing campaigns; leading the continued development and innovation of UCL’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate prospectuses.

They will lead an integrated team including the CRM team, the social media and paid media team and the publications team, interfacing with colleagues across UCL proactively and productively.

The first stage interviews will be held in early July 2025, with second stage interviews to be held mid July 2025.

This is a full-time fixed term post and is available to start from Mid July 2025 and is funded until mid of July 2026.

About You

Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualified or substantial demonstrated experience in the theory and practical implementation of demand-based marketing and communications is essential.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in integrated channel and performance marketing at an agency or in a complex, stakeholder environment, demonstrate proficiency in developing and delivering marketing campaigns for leading brands and have substantial experience of delivering cross channel marketing and CRM campaigns including offline, digital, and social media.
