Job description

About Us

We are part of International Airlines Group (IAG), one of the world’s leading airline groups and owner of some of the biggest brands in the sky. IAG Transform provides creative and innovative solutions to drive sustainable transformation by delivering procurement and airline services, as well as group-wide systems across IAG. Each operating company benefits from the Transform centralised model, driving efficiencies, automation, and economies of scale.

Purpose of the role

We are seeking a Head of Maintenance Contracts Intelligence to lead and provide deep technical expertise across the Group's maintenance contracts and support the transformation of how contractual knowledge is captured, structured and applied across Technical Operations. The role is focused on leading and bringing deep practical knowledge of aircraft maintenance contracts into a new contract intelligence environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding and interpreting the technical content of complex maintenance agreements and translating this knowledge into structured information that can subsequently be used by digital and AI-enabled solutions to develop scalable methodologies and improve the way maintenance contracts and related invoices are analysed. The position will cover a broad range of maintenance-related contracts, including, engine maintenance, Line Maintenance, Heavy Maintenance, MRO, components, repairs, rotables, materials and maintenance services, as well as other related areas as required. Please note this is not primarily a contract negotiation, procurement, legal or data science role. The successful candidate will act as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME), working closely with AI, digital, procurement, engineering and maintenance teams to ensure that complex technical contractual knowledge is accurately understood and translated into scalable digital solutions.

Your responsibilities
Key Role Accountabilities
  • Lead and provide senior technical expertise on the Group's maintenance contracts across Technical Operations and MRO.
  • Analyse and interpret complex maintenance contracts, identifying key technical clauses, conditions, inclusions, exclusions and contractual obligations.
  • Translate technical contractual knowledge into structured information that can be used by AI and digital solutions.
  • Lead and support the development of contract intelligence capabilities, including the identification of relevant contractual information across a large and diverse contract portfolio.
  • Lead and support the development of automated contract-to-invoice review processes, helping identify discrepancies, duplicated charges, incorrectly billed services or materials and other contractual deviations.
  • Assess different types of maintenance contracts, including areas such as engine maintenance, Line Maintenance, Heavy Maintenance, MRO, components, repairs, rotables, materials and maintenance services, among others.
  • Identify which contractual provisions are technically relevant for invoice validation and supplier claims.
  • Work closely with AI, digital, engineering, maintenance and other relevant teams to ensure that technical contractual knowledge is correctly incorporated into digital solutions.
  • Develop scalable methodologies for extracting and structuring relevant information from a large and diverse contract portfolio.
  • Lead and support the identification, grouping and analysis of contractual discrepancies and potential supplier claims.
  • Drive the adoption of new ways of working, bringing practical maintenance expertise into a transformation environment while ensuring that solutions remain grounded in real operational requirements.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Senior technical professional with deep practical experience of aircraft maintenance and maintenance contracts
  • Strong understanding of multiple maintenance contract models across areas such as engines, Line Maintenance, Heavy Maintenance, MRO, components, repairs, rotables, materials and related services, as well as other relevant maintenance areas.
  • Ability to understand complex contractual clauses from a technical and operational perspective, including what is covered, what is excluded, what should be included in the agreed price and what may legitimately be charged separately.
  • Proven ability to identify potential discrepancies between contractual conditions and supplier invoices or services delivered.
  • Ideally, experience in a senior technical leadership or management role, such as within engineering, maintenance or technical operations
  • Experience working directly with multiple maintenance providers and having been involved in different types of maintenance agreements and supplier relationships.
  • Strong practical understanding of how maintenance contracts work
  • Ability and willingness to work in a detailed and methodical way, analysing complex contractual information and identifying the elements that are genuinely relevant.
  • Ability to structure complex technical knowledge and contribute to the development of scalable approaches to contract intelligence, rather than relying on highly manual, contract-by-contract analysis.
  • Open-minded and adaptable, with an interest in working alongside AI and digital teams and applying new technologies to established maintenance processes.
  • Previous experience in AI, data science or digital development and exposure to transformation, digitalisation, automation or new systems would be considered a plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical contractual matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
