Job summary

OSB Group seeks a Head of Internal Audit to lead the Group Internal Audit (GIA) function, driving assurance across business and conduct risks. This 12-month fixed-term contract involves strategic oversight, senior stakeholder interactions, and line management within OSB's GIA leadership.

Based in London, Wolverhampton or Chatham with a hybrid policy, the role reports to the Chief Internal Auditor and requires extensive banking audits experience and team leadership.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience leading internal audits across banking products, processes and customer journeys.
  • Specialist knowledge in at least one domain: Customer, Conduct, Savings or Mortgage Lending, or Operational Risk Management.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop audit professionals and teams.
  • Strong ability to plan and deliver strategic audit planning and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and prioritisation of audits within the domain and contribute to the Group audit plan.
  • Review and approve audit scopes and sign off final reports.
  • Provide direction and oversight to Senior Audit Managers and Audit Managers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior management and other assurance functions.
  • Lead with curiosity, coach colleagues, and role-model OSB leadership.
  • Attend governance committees to present audit reporting.

Job description

As Head of Internal Audit will be joining our high-performing Group Internal Audit (GIA) team that helps the Group pursue its objectives through impactful assurance and unique insights.

GIA is a dynamic, proactive, respected team that combines deep domain expertise with commercial awareness to drive tailored risk and control improvements as the Group navigates enterprise transformation.

The team uses leading audit tools, AI, and data capabilities to enhance the breadth, depth and speed of assurance and advice. Committed to continuous improvement and learning, team members are empowered to own audit outcomes and mature ways of working.

The role can be based from our London, Wolverhampton or Chatham office with occasional travel between offices, we also operate a hybrid policy.

Please note this position is a Fixed Term Contract for a period of 12 months

What you will be doing:

As Head of Audit - Business and Conduct, you will lead GIA's assurance across business and conduct risk domains (including operations, customer, and compliance in the 1st and 2nd Lines). This will include strategic audit planning, oversight of audit delivery, quality assurance, and frequent senior stakeholder interactions.

Reporting directly to the Chief Internal Auditor, you will be part of the GIA leadership team and play a key role in shaping and delivering functional strategy, evolving professional practices, running day-to-day team operations, and influencing culture and behaviour. You will also have line management responsibilities.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading the planning and prioritisation of audits within the domain, contributing to the development of the annual Group audit plan and audit universe.
  • Reviewing and approve audit scopes and sign off all final audit reports within the domain
  • Providing direction, challenge and oversight to Senior Audit Managers and Audit Managers throughout audit delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior management and other assurance functions
  • Fostering a supportive culture where people perform at their best; by leading with curiosity, coaching colleagues to grow, and demonstrating OSB's leadership daily.
  • Attend management and board governance committees to present audit reporting

  • Extensive experience leading internal audits of core banking products, processes, and customer journeys across savings and mortgage lending lifecycles, as well as operational risk, customer, conduct, and compliance management processes and frameworks, including their implementation and embedding across business areas.
  • Specialist knowledge in at least one of the following domains: Customer, Conduct, Savings or Mortgage Lending, or Operational Risk Management
  • Specialist skills in respect of internal audit and controls assurance are essential
  • Specialist skills in respect of strategic audit planning and dynamic risk assessment are essential
  • Previous experience leading and developing a team of audit professionals
