Job summary

DWP Digital seeks a senior leader to head Hybrid Cloud Services, guiding strategy, design, delivery and operation for our cloud and hosting platforms. You will oversee a large team across government-wide services, ensuring security, resilience and availability while driving transformation and modern engineering practices.

You will work with senior leaders across DWP and government to shape hosting strategy, lead a 200-strong technology team, and deliver cost-effective, scalable cloud-enabled

Qualifications

• Proven track record of leading design, delivery and operation of large-scale Cloud and Datacentre services.
• Experience delivering cloud transformation programmes and migrations of cloud-native and legacy services.
• Strong leadership of multidisciplinary technology teams and suppliers across multiple workstreams.
• Expert-level knowledge of Cloud and infrastructure technologies with decisive, escalations handling.

Job description

What we're looking for Proven track record of leading the design, delivery and operation of large-scale Cloud and Datacentre services, including responsibility for mission-critical environments requiring high availability, resilience, security and regulatory compliance. Demonstrable experience of delivering cloud transformation programmes, including the migration of cloud-native and legacy services, service transitions between providers, and measurable improvements in operational performance, resilience or cost efficiency. Evidence of building, implementing and operating modern platform engineering capabilities, including Internal Developer Platforms, DevOps practices, automation tooling and Agile delivery approaches that have improved developer experience and service outcomes. Significant experience leading multidisciplinary technology teams and suppliers, with accountability for the successful delivery of complex infrastructure programmes across multiple workstreams, budgets and organisational boundaries. Expert-level technical knowledge of Cloud and infrastructure technologies, demonstrated through making critical technical decisions, resolving major service issues and providing leadership during complex operational escalations. Strong record of delivering business value through technology leadership, evidenced by strategic planning, financial management, stakeholder engagement and influencing senior leaders to achieve organisational objectives and technology transformation outcomes.

We're looking for a Head of Hybrid Cloud Services to lead the strategy, design, delivery and operation of our cloud and hosting platforms. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for services that support 22 million customers, 84,000 colleagues and more than 2,000 engineers across one of the largest digital estates in government.

You’ll lead a function of around 200 technology professionals, shaping the future of our hosting strategy across hyperscale public cloud and on-premise infrastructure. Working closely with senior leaders across DWP and wider government, you'll ensure critical services remain secure, resilient and available, while driving large-scale transformation and modern engineering practices.
