Job summary

Principal People is representing a leading distribution organisation recruiting for a Head of Health and Safety. The role is home based with travel and offers a £70,000 - £85,000 package plus benefits.

You will own the HSEF strategy across a large national division, working with senior stakeholders to drive a proactive safety culture and ensure legal compliance. You will lead governance of ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001, manage incident investigations, and develop high‑performing teams across

Qualifications

• Level 6 Health and Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience leading HSE across multi-site operations (retail, logistics, distribution).
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
• Proven leadership and ability to develop high-performing teams.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic improvements.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver divisional HSEF strategy across multiple sites.
• Lead HSEF Management Systems and drive governance, audits and continual improvement.
• Partner with senior leaders to embed a positive safety culture and manage strategic risks.
• Lead incident investigations, risk management and performance reporting with corrective actions.
• Drive sustainability programmes and facilities compliance to support operational excellence.
• Lead, coach and develop the HSEF team and share best practices.
