A high-achieving secondary academy in Manchester is seeking an ambitious, visionary Head of History to lead its Humanities faculty on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January.

Job Overview

History is a thriving, academically rigorous subject at this academy. The successful candidate will take strategic leadership over historical inquiry, primary source evaluation, and exam preparation across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE History), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level History).

Working alongside senior leadership and a dedicated team of humanities teachers, you will refine schemes of work, manage assessment schedules, drive literacy through historical essay writing, and direct educational site visits and debate societies. This is a full-time, permanent contract starting in January.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction, curriculum design, and operational management for the History department
