Job Description:

Title: Head of Highways Management and Maintenance
Rate: £600 per day
Type: Temporary - 3-6 months
Location: Cambridgeshire

Opus People Solutions is recruiting an interim Head of Highways Management and Maintenance to support the achievement of the directorate's core aims, including improving transport and connectivity, protecting the environment, delivering sustainable economic development, and maintaining resident-focused services.

Reporting to the Service Director: Infrastructure and Project Delivery, you will provide operational leadership, development, and management for professional services within your remit, ensuring high-quality service delivery within resources.

The role is responsible for all Highways Maintenance services, including:

• Carriageways, Footways, and Cycleways
• Green Infrastructure
• Drainage and Resilience
• Structures
• Customer Engagement for Highways

Responsibilities:

• Develop strategic objectives for services within the Place and Sustainability directorate, aligning with organizational strategy, best practices, and legal requirements.
• Provide expert knowledge in professional specialism, ensuring policies and processes are current and effective.
• Manage operational activities across service teams, overseeing workload planning and service delivery.
• Ensure resources are deployed effectively and operations comply with legislation and regulations.
• Develop management information to monitor service activity and outcomes.
• Establish performance metrics and benchmarks, adapting strategies to improve service impact.
• Collaborate with partners, contractors, and suppliers to ensure contracts and projects meet outcomes and value for money.
