Job summary

Chiltern Recruitment Limited is partnering with a well‑established organisation in Slough to appoint an experienced Head of Grounds. This hands‑on role leads a small grounds team, planning and maintaining cricket, rugby, football and athletics surfaces, gardens and outdoor facilities at a site in Slough.

The role requires strong leadership, planning and safety knowledge, with 5+ years in grounds management and a full driving licence.

Qualifications

• GCSE or O-level qualifications required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in sports grounds management or turf care.
• Proven team leadership experience with training and development.
• Strong knowledge of cricket, rugby, football and athletics surface maintenance.
• Experience maintaining gardens, trees, hedges, fencing and boundaries.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills including workload prioritisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and motivate the grounds team to meet standards.
• Plan and allocate workloads; ensure staffing cover.
• Monitor performance and develop team members.
• Develop annual and long-term grounds maintenance plans.
• Prepare and maintain sports surfaces and related facilities.
• Liaise with colleagues on pitch use, events and weather impact.
• Manage budgets and procurement for grounds projects.
• Ensure safety, COSHH compliance and risk assessments.
