Job summary

Barnet Council is seeking a Head of Service to deliver the Fleet and Passenger Transport services and oversee procurement for the council’s fleet. You will lead over 250 staff, ensure on-budget delivery of the service business plan and shape strategic transport solutions.

Required qualifications include a degree-level qualification and a CPC in a relevant operation, with extensive senior leadership and budget management experience. Barnet offers flexible working and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in transport, fleet management, engineering, logistics or related discipline.
• CPC certificate in National Road Haulage Operations or National Passenger Transport Operations.
• Significant senior leadership experience managing large-scale fleet, transport or operational services.
• Strong track record in delivering safe, compliant, cost-effective services.
• Experience leading service improvement and change programmes.
• Proven budget, procurement and contract management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Fleet Service and Passenger Transport Service.
• Oversee procurement of the council's fleet and related contracts.
• Manage budgets and multidisciplinary teams achieving value-for-money.
• Drive service improvements, transformation and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure health and safety and risk management are embedded.
