Job summary

Barnsley Council is seeking a Transport and Driving Standards Service Manager in Barnsley. This full-time, permanent role offers a salary of £48,738 - £51,928 per annum. You will lead strategic planning, drive standards, and ensure safe, compliant fleet operations for a 400+ vehicle fleet in a fast-paced public sector environment.

The role requires CPC accreditation and a Level 6 Management qualification or equivalent, with extensive experience in fleet management and staff leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience in a managerial role within public sector fleet/transport.
• Proven ability to lead strategic planning and operational delivery.
• Knowledge of Operators Licence requirements and fleet compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee strategic planning and operational delivery through the management of the Council’s Operators Licence.
• Ensure that fleet processes, vehicles and drivers are safe and compliant at all times.
• Lead on driving standards and related training.
• Manage and develop the transport and driving standards service to support residents.
