We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Health and Safety to join us at The London Clinic, based at our main hospital site in London (W1G 6BW). We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities and approximately 1350 employees. We are dedicated to providing our patients with expert, individualized treatment and care. Our main hospital features 8 floors, over 150 patient beds, and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive/day surgery theatres. Our specialties include general surgery, ENT, gynaecology, hepatobiliary, neuro-spinal, ophthalmic, orthopaedic, plastic and reconstructive, robotic, urology, vascular, and bariatric surgery.

Job Profile

Reporting to the Patient Services and Strategic Programmes Director, you will be the primary lead for operational fire, security, and health and safety management. You will provide subject matter expertise and ensure compliance across all aspects of fire, security, and health and safety. A pragmatic approach and visible leadership are essential to deliver service excellence in these areas.

  • Job Type: Full-time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week
  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm
  • Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW (near Regents Park/Baker St tube stations)
  • Salary: Competitive salary range

Key Duties
  • Provide expert advice on fire protection, including emergency routes, detection and warning systems, firefighting equipment, evacuation plans, and support for vulnerable individuals.
  • Identify and deliver fire safety training to ensure high standards and stakeholder confidence.
  • Lead and develop the Security team, collaborating with the Estates team.
  • Ensure compliance with H&S, fire safety, security, and CDM regulations; design and maintain safe systems of work.
  • Maintain and update health, safety, and wellbeing policies and strategies.
  • Support inspections, risk assessments, and manage the health and safety risk register.
Skills & Experience
  • Relevant qualification or professional membership in Fire Safety Management, FPA, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
  • CMIOSH qualified health and safety professional.
  • Experience managing fire safety, security, and health and safety in a complex, multi-site environment.
  • Strong relationship management skills with leaders and stakeholders.
  • Pragmatic, hands-on approach.
