We are seeking a commercially astute and analytically driven Head of Finance to partner with our Operations (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality) and Product teams. This pivotal role provides strategic financial leadership, drives performance through data, and supports decision-making across our product lifecycle.
This position is ideal for a finance leader with a strong FP&A background, a deep understanding of manufacturing environments, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Head of Finance to collaborate with our Operations (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality) and Product teams. This key role will deliver strategic financial leadership, drive data-driven performance, and support decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has a strong FP&A background, extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering
- Lead as the finance partner for Operations and Product, providing insights and challenge to enhance efficiency, innovation, and value creation.
- Work with senior leaders across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and R&D to align financial planning with operational goals.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning for operations and engineering.
- Create and update financial models for scenario planning, investments, and cost management.
- Provide variance analysis and performance reports, translating data into actionable insights.
- Support monthly reporting with analysis of variances, trends, and forecasts.
- Conduct scenario analysis, cost-benefit assessments, and profitability evaluations for projects and investments.
Operational Finance & Data Analytics
- Analyze key financial metrics and KPIs such as revenue, margins, costs, and inventory to support performance management and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations to understand cost drivers and identify efficiencies.
- Monitor manufacturing KPIs like yield, throughput, scrap, and downtime, and link them to financial outcomes.
- Partner with Quality teams to analyze costs related to scrap, rework, warranty, and compliance, supporting continuous improvement.
- Assist supply chain planning by providing financial insights into procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
- Work with Product teams on R&D initiatives, prototypes, and new products, providing financial analysis and supporting investment decisions.
- Support make-vs-buy decisions, capital investments, and product costing strategies.
- Develop dashboards and reports to visualize operational and financial performance.
- Translate data into visualizations and narratives for decision-making.
- Identify and implement process improvements in reporting and data analysis.
- Ensure data integrity across systems.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with departmental heads to create KPIs aligned with business goals.
- Coordinate with the wider finance team to ensure timely, relevant support to Operations and Product units.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration.
Key Requirements
- Proven senior finance experience within a manufacturing or engineering-led business.
- Strong FP&A expertise with a track record of driving performance through data analysis.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting, and operational KPIs.
- Excellent financial modeling, analytical, and storytelling skills.
- Experience in ODM or product development environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Infor preferred), Excel, and data visualization tools (PowerBI).
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualifications are preferred but not essential.
