About The Role:

The Crowd is partnered with a leading, mid-sized international architecture practice that is seeking a commercial and strategically minded Head of Finance to join at advisory level.

The role will involve working closely with the board and senior leadership to manage the financial health of the business, provide key commercial and strategic advice, and oversee project financials. This is a varied, hands-on role that also involves participation in wider operational functions and collaboration with design teams, requiring strong project knowledge and business acumen. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished all-rounder from the architecture or built environment sector, confident in challenging the status quo. You will oversee a small team and liaise with external stakeholders, so excellent communication and people skills are essential.

This position could suit someone already at Head of Finance level seeking to become the number one or someone aiming to step into senior leadership and board-level support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage the overall financial health of the business, leading strategic planning.
2. Provide monthly financial reporting and insights to the board.
3. Produce annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
4. Manage P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, management accounts, WIP, and debtors.
5. Collaborate with the design team to offer financial input and strategic guidance on projects.
6. Oversee year-end and audit processes.
7. Ensure compliance in all financial and commercial aspects.
8. Offer sound financial advice and oversight to the board.
9. Advise on company strategies and risk mitigation.
10. Review and optimize financial processes.
11. Lead a small finance and operations team.
12. Serve as a financial and commercial resource for the wider team.

Key Skills:

1. Relevant financial qualifications; QBE considered with experience.
2. Strategically and commercially minded with advisory experience.
3. Confident decision-maker, capable of challenging norms.
