Job description

A multi-site organisation with offices in South-East London is looking to hire an ambitious ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified Head of Finance to join them on a permanent basis. This role is office-based and offers potential career progression in the medium/long term. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and supervising a large finance team, the Head of Finance will:

Duties of the Head of Finance Role:

1. Work as part of the senior team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business, with responsibility for all aspects of the Finance Department.
2. Lead, develop, and manage a strong finance team to support the business and organisational goals; collaborate with the HR team to ensure adequate staffing and capabilities now and in the future.
3. Ensure staff are engaged and trained to perform their duties effectively, including attaining necessary qualifications or training.
4. Monitor and improve business administration performance, developing strategies for continuous improvement.
5. Oversee the delivery of finance and admin systems and procedures, ensuring staff engagement across all areas.
6. Maintain control over financial transactions, ensuring timely completion of processes such as income and bank reconciliations, management of balance sheet accounts, debtors, credit control, purchase ledger, and payroll support.
7. Support the Head of Management Accounting in capturing and reporting management information for informed decision-making.
8. Utilise quality and information systems to ensure efficient and economical administration performance.

Requirements of the Head of Finance Role:

• ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualified accountant
• Proven experience managing teams of more than 10 people
• Experience with complex tax returns
• Advanced IT skills in office products and system administration
• Strong financial control experience, including AP, AR, bank, and income reconciliation
• Good knowledge of management accounting
• Previous experience in a multi-site business is advantageous
