Job summary

Bristol Zoological Society is recruiting a Head of Finance to lead the charity's day-to-day financial management, reporting to the Director of Finance and guiding treasury and planning. The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (or QBE) with charity or not-for-profit finance experience, excellent Excel skills, and proven financial modelling experience.

The role also involves partnering with stakeholders, budgeting, and driving change within the organisation.

Job description

Morgan McKinley is delighted to be partnering exclusively with Bristol Zoological Society to recruit their new Head of Finance.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance and responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the charity, this role has a broad remit, and will require the successful candidate to be tech and IT savvy and confident using Excel based models.

Responsibilities will include the following:

• Leadership of small finance team
• Business partnering with various stakeholders and budget holders
• Lead financial modelling and scenario planning to support medium and long-term plans
• Review financial reports, including management accounts, budgets and forecasts, and provide meaningful narrative
• Running year-end audit process
• Review and approve weekly cash flow forecast and ensure efficient treasury management
• Help drive innovation and change, and support with projects from a finance perspective

The Person

The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (or QBE) with charity or not-for-profit finance experience, or strong transferable experience and a good understanding of how charity finance works.

You will need strong finance systems and advanced Excel skills, plus previous financial modelling experience to support financial planning and cash flow forecasting.
