Job summary

CV Screen Ltd. invites applications for the position of Head of Finance in Galashiels. This senior, office-based role reports to the executive lead for finance and oversees both the finance and procurement functions.

The successful candidate will shape financial strategy, strengthen controls and advise senior leadership and the board. The role requires a qualified accountant with extensive post-qualification experience and a proven track record of managing budgets, forecasts and statutory

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience.
• Experience leading a customer-focused finance function in a medium to large organisation, including budgets, forecasts and statutory reporting.
• Strong governance and risk management knowledge. Experience in public sector, VAT or education finance is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, driving efficiency and continuous improvement.
• Own the annual budgets, monthly management accounts, forecasts and year-end statutory accounts, and act as the key contact for external audit.
• Prepare funding body, VAT and other external returns, alongside board and committee papers.
• Develop financial regulations and controls, and oversee the procurement function.
• Partner with budget holders, build financial models and support major capital projects.

This senior, office-based role pays up to £61,575 and reports directly to the executive lead for finance. You will head up both the finance and procurement functions. Our client delivers learning and training to people and employers across the Scottish Borders. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to shape financial strategy, strengthen controls and act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership and the board.
