Overview

Head of Finance - Law Firm - Sussex

We are looking for an experienced and Head of Finance to lead the financial function of a well-established law firm based in Sussex.

This is a senior leadership role, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance department, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules, and contributing to the firm's strategic financial planning. The successful candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, sound judgement, and a proven ability to lead within a legal finance environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the firm's financial operations
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including the Solicitors Accounts Rules
• Lead on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business goals
• Manage and mentor a small finance team
• Liaise with senior leadership on financial performance and planning

Requirements

• Ideally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Significant experience in a senior finance role within a law firm
• Strong understanding of legal accounting and regulatory compliance
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Commercially aware with a strategic mindset
