Job description

To lead the Farming team through a period of significant change, both internally and due to new agricultural policies following the repatriation of agricultural policy to Westminster, the Head of Farming is responsible for creating and implementing the Company’s Farming business strategy in the short, medium, and long term.

Responsibilities

1. Work with the Head of Rural to develop and implement effective business plans and vision.
2. Ensure the delivery of the agreed strategy and promote high performance within the Farming department.
3. Focus on business development by cultivating existing clients and establishing new ones.
4. Manage own client relationships effectively.
5. Collaborate with the Head of Rural to foster a culture of process improvement through training, communication, and system development.
6. Achieve departmental budgets and reforecast as necessary.
7. Communicate financial information clearly within the team.
8. Provide visionary and inspirational leadership.
9. Promote and communicate the company’s vision for rural and farming businesses.
10. Work with leadership and HR to recruit and develop high-performing team members.
11. Mentor and develop successors, identifying top talent.
12. Embed a business development ethos across the business line.
13. Model exemplary organizational behavior.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, highly numerate, adaptable, and flexible. They should have extensive experience and knowledge in agriculture, capable of representing Strutt & Parker with credibility. They will articulate the business vision and develop clear plans to enhance performance and achieve measurable results.

Qualifications

• Degree in an agricultural discipline.
• MRICS (desirable, not required).
• CAAV (desirable, not required).
• BASIS and FACTS certifications (desirable, not required).

Experience

• Proven track record in the Farming sector with consultancy and client management experience.
• Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to inspire teams and drive growth and profitability.
• Strong market profile as a leader and new business generator.
• Experience delivering presentations, reports, and commentary to various audiences including media, press, webinars, and podcasts.
