Head of Farming

To lead the Farming team through a period of significant change, including internal business adjustments and new agricultural policies following the repatriation of agricultural policy to Westminster. The Head of Farming is responsible for creating and implementing the Company’s Farming business strategy in the short, medium, and long term.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the Head of Rural to implement effective business plans and vision.
2. Ensure delivery of the agreed strategy and promote high performance across the Farming department.
3. Focus on business development to cultivate existing clients and establish new ones.
4. Manage own client relationships.
5. Work with the Head of Rural to develop a culture of process improvement through training, communication, and system development.
6. Achieve departmental budgets and reforecast as necessary.
7. Communicate financial information to relevant team members.
8. Be a visionary and inspirational leader.
9. Communicate and drive the company’s vision within rural and farming sectors.
10. Collaborate with leadership and HR to recruit and develop a high-performance workforce.
11. Inspire, coach, mentor, and develop successors, identifying top talent.
12. Instill a business development ethos throughout the business line.
13. Act as a role model for organizational behavior.

Person Specification

The candidate should be a strong communicator, highly numerate, adaptable, and flexible. They should be an experienced agriculturalist with credibility and authenticity, capable of articulating the business vision and creating effective plans to drive performance and measurable results.

• Degree in an agricultural discipline.
• MRICS (optional).
• CAAV (optional).
• BASIS and FACTS (desirable but not required).

Experience

• Proven record in the farming sector with consultancy and client management experience.
• Experience in team leadership, motivating teams to enhance performance and profitability.
• Strong market profile as a leader and new business generator.
• Experience in delivering presentations, reports, and commentary to various audiences including media and online platforms.
