Job summary

East Cheshire NHS Trust is seeking an experienced emergency planning and resilience professional to lead its Emergency Preparedness, Resilience, Response and Business Continuity (EPRR & BC) function.

This senior role is responsible for ensuring the Trust is prepared to respond effectively to major incidents, emergencies and disruptive events while maintaining safe patient care and critical services. Working closely with the Accountable Emergency Officer and senior leaders, you will provide expert advice, ensure compliance with NHS England EPRR Core Standards and statutory requirements, and drive continuous improvement in organisational resilience.

You will lead emergency planning, business continuity and incident response arrangements, while representing the Trust across local, regional and system-wide partnerships to strengthen collaborative preparedness and response capabilities.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in emergency planning and resilience within a complex healthcare environment, strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to influence at senior levels.

Main duties of the job

As Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience, Response and Business Continuity (EPRR & BC), you will lead the Trust's approach to emergency planning, business continuity and organisational resilience, ensuring readiness for major incidents while maintaining safe patient care.

Key responsibilities include leading the Trust's EPRR and Business Continuity programmes; ensuring compliance with statutory and NHS requirements; providing expert advice to senior leaders and the Accountable Emergency Officer; developing, testing and reviewing emergency response, recovery and business continuity plans; leading the Business Continuity Management Framework; delivering training and exercises; coordinating lessons learned and continuous improvement activities; building partnerships with NHS organisations, emergency services, local authorities and system partners.

This high-profile leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the Trust's resilience strategy, strengthen organisational preparedness and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective healthcare services.
