Head of Enterprise Architecture Governance
Chief Architect responsibility covering – Technology Standards & Domains
Location: London | Hybrid
This role focuses on governing standards, frameworks, and enabling domain components within enterprise architecture. You will lead efforts to standardize and simplify technology architecture, aligning it with global business and data strategies through governing frameworks, automating policies, and embedding modern cloud and integration solutions.
- Create reusable frameworks and components emphasizing consistency, automation, and resilience.
- Apply modern architecture expertise, including policy-as-code, Kubernetes, and data mesh, managing distributed teams and fostering a culture of reuse.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
- Establish and enforce standards, policies, and frameworks for enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
- Standardize artefacts like architecture diagrams and roadmaps during change lifecycle to ensure consistency across projects.
- Automate compliance with architectural standards through policy automation tools.
- Engage stakeholders, influencing senior leaders and cross-functional teams to adopt modern architectural practices.
- Guide multi-year transformation aligning standards with scalability and resilience goals.
- Define and govern enterprise architecture standards, including frameworks, patterns, and tools (e.g., LeanIX, Confluence, Terraform).
- Build reusable domain reference architectures for Cloud, Infrastructure, Integration, Data, and Security.
- Chair a federated Design Authority, embedding automated policy gates in CI/CD pipelines.
- Lead enterprise-wide simplification efforts, retiring legacy systems and promoting cloud-native, event-driven designs (e.g., Kafka, MuleSoft).
Experience Required:
- Proven leadership of globally distributed architecture or technology teams.
- Experience in large-scale technology transformations, especially in financial services.
- Ability to influence C-level stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment.
- Extensive architecture governance experience, with a track record of codifying EA frameworks in regulated environments.
- Strategic thinking aligning architecture with business and technology goals.
- Technical proficiency in cloud, integration, and automation technologies.
- Strong governance and policy automation skills.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex concepts.
- Knowledge of modern architecture principles (microservices, event-driven systems).
- Familiarity with financial regulations (GDPR, MiFID II) and their impact on architecture.
