Anglian Water Group Ltd. in Peterborough seeks a Head of Engineering to lead the engineering strategy for its Major Infrastructure Delivery portfolio, worth around £2bn, across major treatment, networks and growth projects.

You will provide executive leadership for design governance, assurance and engineering risk, guiding the delivery teams and partners to ensure safe, efficient and resilient solutions aligned with long-term objectives.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer and professional chartership or working towards chartership.
• Significant leadership experience in major infrastructure design, delivery or capital programmes.
• Proven experience leading governance, assurance and risk management across complex programmes.
• Strong understanding of Design & Build delivery models and regulated environments.
• Commercial awareness and experience with contractors, consultants and delivery partners.
• Strong strategic thinking and organisational leadership abilities.
• Ability to provide robust technical challenge across design, construction and commissioning.
• Passion for innovation and developing people and capability.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic engineering leadership across Major Infrastructure Delivery and set governance and technical direction for major programmes.
• Lead engineering strategy across a circa £2bn portfolio, ensuring robust design assurance and effective risk management.
• Champion innovative, sustainable and standardised engineering solutions optimizing whole-life cost and deliverability.
• Oversee design assurance, ensuring compliance with Anglian Water standards and CDM requirements.
• Resolve complex engineering and design challenges to remove delivery barriers and improve outcomes.
• Sponsor digital, data-led and modern methods of construction for a #DigitalFirst culture.
• Drive engineering excellence across the supply chain and develop capabilities and lessons learned frameworks.
• Provide executive leadership for commissioning, temporary works governance and engineering assurance across programmes.
• Lead innovation and research initiatives to improve long-term resilience and efficiency.
• Strengthen safety in design and engineering governance across major projects.
• Build high-performing teams with robust succession planning and workforce development.
