We’re looking for a Head of Higher Education Engineering to lead and develop our higher-level engineering provision at Wigan & Leigh College.

This is a role with real scope. You’ll lead a portfolio spanning higher apprenticeships, Pearson Higher Nationals and university-partner provision, shaping the curriculum, quality, partnerships and people behind it.

You’ll work closely with employers, universities, awarding organisations and colleagues across the College to make sure our engineering offer reflects changing technologies, regional skills priorities and the needs of students and apprentices.

We’re looking for someone with significant experience of teaching and leading Higher Education Engineering, a strong record of improving student or apprentice outcomes and the confidence to lead teams through change.

You’ll need to understand higher apprenticeships, Gateway and End Point Assessment, and be comfortable operating across academic, employer and technical environments.

This isn’t a role for maintaining what already exists. We want someone who can build a stronger Higher Education Engineering identity, develop new provision and create clear progression routes from further education and apprenticeships into higher technical study and professional careers.

Salary may be negotiable at the top of the range for an exceptional candidate.

You’ll lead engineering provision within a college that is the lead FE partner in the Greater Manchester Institute of Technology and part of the North-West Construction Technical Excellence College, with continued investment in technical education and specialist facilities.
