Job summary

ONYX Insight seeks a Head of Engineering to lead the hardware, embedded software and sensing technology teams. You will translate product strategy into engineering execution, driving lifecycle management from concept to deployment across global customers.

The role blends technical leadership with people leadership and operational oversight to scale our Advanced Sensing business while upholding safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Lead, develop and grow the Advanced Sensing Engineering function, creating a high-performing and collaborative engineering culture.
• Set team objectives, priorities and resource plans aligned to business goals.
• Recruit, develop and retain engineering talent across hardware, embedded software and product support disciplines.
• Own the delivery of Advanced Sensing engineering activities, ensuring new products and enhancements are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Drive effective engineering planning, prioritisation and execution across the product portfolio.
• Support the development and adoption of new technologies and engineering solutions.
• Provide leadership across the full product lifecycle, from concept and development through to deployment, support and continuous improvement.
• Ensure robust testing, validation, certification and change control processes are maintained.
• Drive product reliability improvements through effective investigation and resolution of technical issues.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Commercial, Delivery and Customer-facing teams to translate market and customer requirements into engineering outcomes.
• Represent Engineering in strategic customer, partner and business discussions where required.
• Support delivery of Advanced Sensing business objectives through effective cross-functional leadership.

The Role

As Head of Engineering, you will lead the engineering function responsible for the development, delivery, and lifecycle management of ONYX Insight's hardware and sensing technologies. This role provides leadership across product development, hardware engineering, embedded software, product support and engineering processes, ensuring the business delivers reliable, scalable and commercially successful products to a global customer base. You will be responsible for translating product strategy and roadmap objectives into engineering execution, balancing innovation with operational excellence. Working closely with Product Management, Quality, Supply Chain, Monitoring, Delivery and Commercial teams, you will ensure products are developed, validated, released and supported in line with business objectives. The role combines technical leadership, people leadership and operational ownership, helping to scale the Advanced Sensing business while maintaining high standards of engineering quality, safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership
