Venesky Brown is seeking a Head of Design Contracts to collaborate on Sizewell C. This is a contract role with hybrid working at their London office, including some travel.

Sizewell C (SZC) is one of the UK’s largest megaprojects, aligned with the UK’s climate change and energy policies. Once completed, it will supply reliable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, supporting the UK's Net Zero goals by 2050.

Job Purpose:

The Head of Design Contracts reports to the Head of Engineering & Technical within CWP and leads the CWP E&T project management team to deliver the CWP E&T Design Supply Contracts within budget and schedule.

Job Role:

This key position within the SZC project organization reports to the Civil Works Programme Head of Engineering and Technical, ensuring the programme meets its budget and schedule targets.

The role involves developing and implementing organizational, operating, and project strategies. The successful candidate will manage a team of up to 20 project management professionals within CWP and provide guidance to the multidisciplinary technical team to meet project objectives.

The role model will exemplify project behaviors, setting standards for the team.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Lead and manage the CWP E&T project managers, fostering staff engagement, development, and performance.
• Ensure the successful delivery of the CWP E&T Design Supply Contracts on time and within budget, providing strong commercial leadership and governance.
• Oversee project management practices across SZC delivery functions to align with strategic objectives and processes.
• Engage with senior stakeholders, including the Head of Civil Programme Engineering, to align budget, schedule, and technical needs for effective design delivery.
• Coordinate with SZC Commercial teams to support procurement of Level 3 Design Supply Contracts.
• Manage CWP E&T Design Supply Chain Contracts post-signature, utilizing CEMAR for warnings and variations.
• Ensure project teams are adequately resourced and aligned with delivery milestones.
• Coordinate with the SZC Project Management Office (PMO) for support.
• Contribute to risk management and ensure technical reviews and surveillance activities comply with governance standards.
• Collaborate with Information Management and PMO to ensure effective data and information systems for delivery and reporting.
• Support the Technical Directorate in applying replication principles across the programme, resolving relevant issues to deliver on time and budget.
