Role Overview

Chase Erwin seeks a visionary, hands-on Head of Design to lead our development teams and elevate our brand through creative innovation, technical excellence, and collaborative leadership. This pivotal role will drive the full product development lifecycle, from concept and design to realisation, ensuring that every collection embodies the sophistication, craftsmanship, and creativity for which Chase Erwin is renowned.

This role is based in the Battersea and Chelsea Harbour areas of London, involves regular international travel, and offers ad-hoc flexible/hybrid working.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

1. Shape the creative strategy for Chase Erwin and the sign, aligning design vision with brand direction and evolving market trends across interiors and textiles.
2. Oversee execution of all design and product development stages – trend research, mill and studio visits, concept creation, fabric selection, prototyping, sampling, and finished product evaluation.
3. Collaborate closely with sales, production, and marketing to ensure seamless integration of design concepts with commercial objectives.
4. Deliver collections on time and within budget.
5. Champion a customer-focused approach by translating market insights into commercially viable products that exceed client expectations.
6. Work cross-functionally to optimise product development processes, sustainable practices, and enhance efficiency and ROI.
7. Represent the brands at industry events, supplier meetings, and design exhibitions (this will require regular international travel).
8. Drive the adoption of innovative materials, finishes, and techniques, maintaining a leadership position in luxury textile design.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

• Significant, demonstrable experience in a leadership design role in the luxury interior textiles or fabric industry.
• Advanced knowledge of woven textile design, material innovation, and development processes.
• Proven ability to create commercially successful and contemporary collections for discerning clients.
• Experience managing complex product development projects from concept to launch, within time and budget constraints.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and direct multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance creativity and business objectives.
• Hands-on approach with meticulous attention to detail and quality.
