Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Head of Delivery - National Security to lead delivery across a strategically important portfolio supporting Central Government, Law Enforcement and national security customers. This permanent leadership role offers the opportunity to shape delivery performance, operational excellence and future growth across a high-profile defence and security portfolio.

The preferred location is Woking with hybrid working available and Manchester also considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of programmes and services across Central Government and Law Enforcement portfolios
• Act as senior escalation point for delivery risks, issues and customer concerns
• Provide delivery assurance, portfolio reporting, and accurate forecasting
• Support project managers and engineering managers to achieve successful programme execution
• Drive improvements in delivery confidence, efficiency, productivity and operational performance
• Manage financial and commercial performance, including utilisation and margin improvement
• Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Government and national security organisations
• Collaborate with Account Leadership and Business Development to shape bids and growth opportunities

Job description

Our client is seeking a Head of Delivery - National Security to lead delivery across a strategically important portfolio supporting Central Government, Law Enforcement and wider national security customers. This permanent leadership role offers the opportunity to shape delivery performance, operational excellence and future growth across a high-profile defence and security portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of programmes, projects and services across the Central Government and Law Enforcement portfolio
• Act as the senior escalation point for delivery risks, issues and customer concerns
• Provide delivery assurance, portfolio reporting, management information and accurate forecasting
• Support Project Managers and Engineering Managers to achieve successful programme execution
• Drive improvements in delivery confidence, efficiency, productivity and operational performance
• Manage financial and commercial performance, including utilisation, profitability and margin improvement
• Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Government, Law Enforcement and national security organisations
• Work with Account Leadership and Business Development teams to shape bids, capture activity and future growth opportunities

Job Requirements

• Proven experience as a Delivery Manager, Head of Delivery or senior leader within project, programme or portfolio management
• Strong experience delivering complex programmes within Central Government, Law Enforcement, Policing or National Security environments
• Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary delivery teams within matrix-managed organisations
• Strong knowledge of portfolio governance, risk management, delivery assurance and operational planning
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority
• Strong commercial awareness and experience in financial forecasting and business planning
• Existing SC clearance is desirable, with eligibility to obtain SC clearance and NPPV
• Understanding of Government procurement, technology, engineering, cyber, communications, defence or national security programmes

Working Environment

• Hybrid working with Woking as the preferred office location
• Manchester-based applicants will also be considered
• Travel to customer and business sites as required
