Job summary

MAG (Airports Group) at London Stansted Airport is seeking a senior leader to drive the Stansted Transformation Programme (STN-TP). You will oversee construction, commissioning and transition to operation across multiple workstreams, manage prime suppliers, and ensure delivery on time and to budget.

The role requires a degree or higher, professional affiliation, and around 15 years of complex project leadership experience in large multi-disciplinary settings.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree/postgraduate level and hold a professional affiliation (e.g. RICS, APM, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or similar).
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience of complex project delivery leadership across multiple streams.
• Experience managing all phases of project delivery from inception to handover in large-scale projects.
• Strong understanding of client needs and commercial/operational opportunities; ability to articulate critical success factors.
• Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams across PM, design and construction.
• Strong contractual/commercial awareness (NEC forms) including risk management and whole-life value.
• Experience operating within regulatory frameworks and influencing a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering construction, commissioning and transition into operation of STN-TP workstreams.
• Manage 1st tier supply chain to ensure safe, on-time delivery and best-practice.
• Develop STN-TP’s approach to infrastructure delivery, focusing on safety, resilience and sustainability.
• Oversee integrated MAG and consultant teams ensuring collaboration with group support and local functions.
• Support programme governance with timely reporting, decision making and escalation of risks and issues.
• Prepare reports for Programme performance and governance forums.

The role

You’ll lead a team accountable for delivering the construction, commissioning and transition into operation of one of the Stansted Transformation Programme (STN-TP) workstreams. You’ll manage the 1st tier supply chain to ensure safe, efficient, on time delivery and be accountable for driving best practice. You’ll contribute to developing STN-TP’s approach to infrastructure delivery, particularly, but not limited to the areas of safety, resilience, environment and sustainability and capital efficiency. As a member of the STN-TP leadership team, you’ll manage an integrated team of MAG and consultant programme delivery professionals ensuring collaboration across all group support and local business functions. STN-TP includes delivery of multiple infrastructure workstreams, including but not limited to; Airfield, Terminal Processor, Pier/Satellite, Baggage (arrivals and departures) and IT. You’ll be accountable for supporting programme governance with timely reporting, decision making and escalation of programme risks and issues, supporting the Programme Delivery Director with preparation of reports for Programme performance and governance forums.

What will make you successful in the role?

You’ll be educated to a degree/post graduate level and hold a professional affiliation (e.g. RICS, APM, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or similar). With a minimum of 15 years’ experience of complex project delivery leadership, you’ll have extensive experience managing all phases of project delivery from project inception to test, commission and handover across the full range of project size and complexity. You’ll demonstrate a deep understanding of client needs and sector-specific commercial and operational opportunities, with a proven ability to identify and articulate the critical success factors that drive project outcomes. With significant experience leading and managing large, multi-disciplinary teams across project management, design and construction, you’ll possess excellent industry knowledge and expertise in complex delivery environments. Strong contractual and commercial awareness (NEC forms), including risk management and whole-life value considerations, alongside proven experience of operating within regulatory frameworks and influencing a wide range of stakeholders are key to this.
